It's September. Wedding season is over. Summer has come to a close. Other than developing a sore throat over the past couple days, this week has been pretty good. Hubs and I officially FINISHED and MAILED all of our wedding thank yous. Boy does it feel good to get those out of the way. Now I have more time to devote to my online coursework.
We've been going to the fitness center regularly and I love it. I've been able to try different classes to figure out exactly what I like. We tried spinning on Tuesday and our butts were whooped. Seriously. It was a great workout. I still attend Zumba regularly and I'm planning on trying bodypump, bodycombat, and bodystep. Tomorrow we have another spinning class. I have to admit, I'm a little nervouse: a) because I'm not feeling 100% and b) because it's such a butt whoopin'.
This weekend should be a blast. My mom's birthday is on Friday and Hubs' birthday is Saturday. I have a few ideas for a birthday present for him, but I want it to be perfect. It's the first married couple birthday. Thankfully I've already gotten my mom's gift. Hubs and I are in charge of cooking dinner on Friday night. We're going to do everything finger food! I think I'm going to make cake balls for dessert. We started getting ideas for the main dishes tonight, but we're definitely open to suggestions!
Couple questions:
-Do you have any ideas for finger foods? Please share! We both love trying new recipes.
-How about ideas for a good husband birthday gift?
Hallo Chew-Botma.
ReplyDeleteThese Snickerdoodles are the current rage at my house: http://www.popularcookierecipes.com/Snickerdoodle.html Add lemon juice for a gnarly sweettart kick. Also, if you don't have cream of tartar, axe it and the 1/4tsp baking soda, and use 1/2tsp of baking power.
As a man, the gift I've enjoyed most has been this: http://www.amazon.com/BANG-La-Pallottola-The-Bullet/dp/B001037L8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315441823&sr=8-1 It's a wild west party card game, a little like Mafia, but way better. This is also extremely well liked whenever I share it with friends and family.
Blessings! R. Mulder!
I have a really good finger food appetizer...Bacon wrapped weenies!
ReplyDeleteI'll write it out here, and it's up to you if you want to use it or not.
1 pkg cocktail sausages (they look like mini hotdogs, and are smaller than smokie links)
1 lb. bacon
brown sugar--about 1 cup.
toothpicks
Cut bacon into thirds. Wrap 1/3 slice of bacon around a cocktail sausage and secure with toothpick. Line bacon wrapped sausages in a baking dish. They should all fit into a 8x8. Cover with brown sugar. I don't measure this. It's a LOT. Brown Sugar should be about 1/2inch thick on top of sausages. Bake at 300 for 1.5 hours.
I always bring these to parties...I've never had people not like them. Don't know if you're looking for appetizers, but there you go!
